Nothingness

Information: This is the famous "Nothingness" of Laleli Baba, which signifies that a person cannot reach perfection until they realize that all power and might, true and absolute existence, belong solely to Allah, and that they are "nothing" in comparison to this magnificent existence and power. Therefore, one should never forget these "four nothings":
 
    All the hardships of the world are "nothing" compared to the torment of Hell.

    The most dreadful degree of Hell's torment is "nothing" compared to being deprived of seeing Allah.
     
    All the blessings of the world are "nothing" compared to the blessings of Paradise.
     
    All the blessings of Paradise are "nothing" compared to seeing Allah even once.

These concepts are for those who truly know Allah. To many others, a trinket of this world is more valuable than Paradise. We seek refuge in Allah from falling into such a state.

Hazrat Mevlana expressed this as follows:

"My turban, my robe, my head... They valued all three together for less than a penny. Haven't you heard of my name in this world? I am nothing, I am nothing, I am nothing."

(Rubaiyat, 1421)
