Hilyah of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH)
Introduction to the Work: This Hilyah, centered around the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) Isra and Mi’raj, begins with a Basmala in accordance with tradition. Above the Basmala, there is a miniature depiction of the Ka’bah, as the starting point of the Mi’raj was the Masjid al-Haram. The Masjid al-Nabawi is depicted in the lower right corner, symbolizing the Prophet’s stop at the Valley of Aqeeq near Madinah to perform two rak'ahs of prayer during the Isra journey. The Masjid al-Aqsa, the endpoint of the Isra, is depicted in the lower left corner.
The central section begins with the names of Allah (Ism al-Jalal) and the Prophet (Ism al-Nabi), surrounded by the Ayah from Surah At-Tawbah (9:128), which describes the Prophet's mission as a blessing from Allah. This is followed by the Ayah from Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40) affirming that the Prophet Muhammad is the final messenger. Encircling these are Ayahs from Surah Al-Isra (17:1, 31-32) that mention the Mi’raj, and then the Ayahs from Surah An-Najm (53:1-10) that describe the Mi’raj in detail. The outer ring contains the complete text of Surah Al-Inshirah and Ayahs 81-82 from Surah Al-Imran, with the prayer “Shafa'at Ya Rasool Allah” embellishing the entire composition. The Seal of Prophethood is stamped throughout these circles. Following this, the Hilye-i Şerîfe text, as described by Hazrat Ali, is presented, followed by the Salat al-Tafrijiyya, which highlights some of the Prophet’s magnificent qualities. The names of 96 of the Prophet’s titles are inscribed as red dots, with the outermost circle featuring a Hadith that is said to pertain to the Hilye-i Şerîfe. The names of the four great caliphs are placed in the four corners of the central section, and the Ayah "We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds" (Surah Al-Anbiya, 107th Ayah) is inscribed. The closing section includes ten miracles of the Prophet, of which it is said that even fire was extinguished upon contact.
