LETTER VAV

Information about the Letter Vav: Ibn Arabi said about the letter Vav, "Vav becomes evident and prominent among the most distinguished of the distinguished. The end of the path belongs to it." The letter Vav is the 27th letter of the Arabic alphabet. It is also found in other alphabets like Hebrew and Ottoman Turkish. According to the science of Abjad, an Islamic numerology, the letter Vav corresponds to the number “6,” which signifies the six pillars of faith. Additionally, it relates to the creation of the universe, symbolizing the six days in which the universe was created. The letter Vav also represents one of the names of Allah, “Al-Wahid,” which means “The One.” When two Vav letters are placed together, they represent the number “66,” which in Sufism corresponds to the name of Allah. Beyond its divine meanings, the letter Vav also has a visual significance. It resembles the posture of a fetus in the womb and the position of prostration in prayer. The state of prostration is when we acknowledge our servitude to Allah and are closest to Him. Thus, the letter Vav reminds us of our servitude. It is a symbol of servitude to Allah.
